Be on the lookout for this awesome urban fantasy book in February 2024! It's been described by many advance reviewers as a combination of Knives Out and The Inheritance Games, and I don't disagree. I love the idea of mixing magic with a murder mystery, and I didn't mind the romance either. Lots of cool plot twists kept me turning pages. My biggest complaint is that it's a bit rushed at times. The ending isn't as thorough as I would have liked, and there are sooo many characters--at times, it can be hard to keep track of who's who, and that interferes with the ability to connect with individual characters. I should also mention that the writing style also includes addressing the reader directly. That didn't bother me, but I could see it being a bit disruptive to the flow of the narrative. Overall, though, it's a quick and imaginative read that I highly recommend!
