Are there loopholes in the prophecies?

Like: the world of magic being integrated into contemporary world, different types of magic, apprentice & mentor relationship, murder mystery is introduced in first chapter, cover (I wonder if each of the items have significance to story)

Eh/Don't like: The inevitable romance not looking forward to it, the voice of story/character I am not connecting to it
