Still too soon for pandemic books

I wanted to love this first impression. The author is from where I grew up and attended my high school a year behind me. I really enjoyed Jane Unlimited. I enjoy speculative fiction so I was hoping this would grab me. I just don’t know if I will ever be ready to read about the pandemic. I did like the aunts and want to explore the relationships that were introduced.
