I love books about grieving and magical realism to the point where I actively seek them out, but honestly I don't want to read a fictionalized account of all the crap happening in America over the past two years. I'm a nurse with a healthy bit of COVID trauma and am sick of hearing about Trump. I also don't tend to read contemporary YA as much anymore. Despite loving Cashore's books previously and liking her writing, I've got to pass this one
