With the absolute state of the US/world post 2020, it’s insulting that the publishing world keeps trying to push the “National Trauma” narrative of 2016 and I can’t think of a topic I’d rather read about less than Covid-set ones. But I gave the excerpt a fair shot, even though the premise alone was enough to turn me away (the cover is quite lovely though!). But the writing was too juvenile, even for something labeled as YA, so it’s a definite do-not-recommend from me.
