Just didn't seem interesting or believable...
Although I think the concept of portraying the events of the COVID pandemic is great, I think the execution of it was...less than great. I didn't find myself believing Wilhelmina's high-school experience or understanding the importance of anything that the character was thinking or feeling. None of the characters, other than Frankie, seemed vital or dynamic.
I felt like the story did not nail the political aspects or the actual emotions, fears, and desperate times of the pandemic. Also, the name Wilhelmina was repeated so many times that it lost all meaning.
Overall, I didn't think this First Look was very appealing and hope that the story is one that improves as the book progresses.
