I've read a couple (but not all) her her other books, and not only is the genre markedly different, the style is a little more direct and sparse. The writing is gentle, though, and I already like how she's handling the subject matter. The details she has included in the opening chapters are ever-so-slightly offbeat in a way that makes the prose read as sincere, rather than just following the usual beats. I'd like to see what she does with what she's set up in the opening pages.
