COVID contemporary with a hint of magic

The cover of There is a Door in this Darkness is beautiful and labyrinthine. It is difficult to tell whether this is a contemporary YA novel or YA fantasy. Maybe it is both. The excerpt has me intrigued and provides a hint of magic. I think many people will find the book relatable.
