Chick Lit meets Practical Magic

The blurb makes it sound like your basic "chick lit" book, messy with realism and character growth. The very first pages back up that impression... until they don't. As you progress it becomes more like the green house scenes from Practical Magic, filled with "chick lit" scenes. Likely this would be a good intro for people who are looking to go fro Literature or Non-fiction into fantasy fiction.
