Kristin Cashore is widely beloved for the Graceling Realm series, so it's especially interesting to read this First Look at her latest stand-alone novel, which looks like realistic fiction with just a touch of magic. This excerpt definitely brought back a lot of the emotions surrounding 2020, and I like the trend of a slightly older protagonist in YA fiction. I'll definitely add this to my upcoming library book order!
