This was such a fun and messy book. I love a good secret dating trope, but this was full of extra mess and twists and turns. I definitely felt like Cameron and his friends were my people, their nerdy quips and frequent anime references had me geeking out with them, I would have fully fit in with the GANU club. There was also a lot of Jane Austen, which immediately makes a book rate higher for me, and even an entire scene of teaching a teen boy about *the* Hand Flex (if you know, you know). It was full of adorable scenes, but also full of extreme awkwardness, to let you know this was still high school and full of adolescents just making bad decisions. I think the biggest negative part of the book for me was the insanely deep lines (war trenches, let's be honest here) drawn between the different groups. Cheerleaders and theater kids 100% can also be into anime and manga and sci-fi movies, and members of the Geeks and Nerds United club would definitely be helping with the school play. Like, why on earth is the girl competing in a Cosplay contest, with a really epic Gundam costume no less, NOT helping with costuming in the theater department? I get that their pride and prejudice against the various cliques was supposed to line up with the Pride and Prejudice play happening in the book, but it felt kind of fake to me. They were taking this clique separation way too hardcore, and while it did add to the drama of the book, it just seemed harsh and a little forced. But overall? Great book, enormously geeky in a very loving way, and chock full of teenage drama!
