Cameron Carson is your typical nerd/ geek. He loves anime and manga and spending his time with his two best friends that share the same interests. In fact they formed the GANU Club. Geeks And Nerds United.

Karla Ortega is the popular girl. Student Council President, cheerleader and member of the theater program at the school.

No one would have expected the popular girl and the nerd would be friends let alone anything more. But when Cameron and Karla wind up working together at the coffee shop over summer a friendship leads to hooking up.

But when summer is over and school starts back Cameron finds himself in a secret "relationship" with Karla. Karla wants to keep hooking up. She just doesn't want anyone to know about it.

Enter Mackenzie Briggs, the sister of Karla's Ex. She's pretty and popular and just happens to share some of Cameron's interests. Despite their rough start Cameron and Mackenzie start to bond. Mackenzie doesn't hide her friendship with Cameron. And suddenly Cameron is questioning who he should be with.

I really wanted to love this book but I just found it lacking. I wasn't attached to the characters. I didn't feel the connection between Cameron and Mackenzie and frankly I was routing for the popular girl and nerdy boy trope. The book was slow and difficult to get through partly because it was loaded down with information that wasn't necessary to the plot. I do, however, think this book would make a good movie. I liked the plot, it just needed more.

Overall I'd give the book 3 stars.
