There was a lot of talk about this book being "realistic fiction." And while there were plenty of parts that would be categorized as such, I was pleasantly surprised to find this book amusing and sarcastic. It was giving hints of Percy Jackson mixed with high school drama. The humor brought a vibrancy to the characters and story that might have been lacking if not for it.

This book juggled a bunch of different characters and did so very well. We have Cameron's love triangle of characters, plus all of the side characters. There were a lot of people that contributed to Cameron's story and the decisions he made and Ramos developed them brilliantly.

As well, I saw a couple of other people noting this and I have to agree that it was nice to have a book from a guy's perspective. It changed the story completely to only know the thoughts and perspective of Cameron rather than dual pov or even multi.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others who enjoy fairly light-hearted high school romances.
