The Wrong Kind of Weird by James Ramos is just the kind of fun and vibrant young adult romantic comedy that we are accustomed to seeing in a movie, all wrapped up in a book package with a bow. The bow being the beautiful cover, just look at it!

The whole book has a cheesy and fun Greasers vs Soc vibe happening, with two very different groups running around the school. The stereotypical nerd group and "popular" group. It may be a bit derivative and predictable, but I found myself actually enjoying it since the author put some fresh spins on the trope of "popular guy meets unpopular girl" that kept me interested, and kept it from feeling like a tweeny bopper movie circa 2010.

All in all, this was a nice, uncomplicated young adult romantic comedy that hit the right literary notes without being too derivative. Definitely a good read for high schoolers.
