I would like to thank both Bookish First and Penguin Random House/Dutton Books for gifting me this free book for review. The Woods Are Always Watching is a young adult thriller about two best friends going camping/hiking together before starting their freshman year of college. I love the diversity in the book it feels natural and not forced. I enjoyed the interaction between Neena and Josie, but with that being said I started to get bored in the middle of the book. The villains of the book were so disappointing and not interesting at all. This book did not scare me at all.

Even though I was disappointed in this book I did enjoy some of the writing style. I love how Stephanie Perkins described the woods, but the creepy atmosphere was done poorly. The banter between the friends were fun. I loved being inside of both the main characters heads. The villains were poorly written and felt out of place. It would've been better if they were attacked by a bear or monster.
