Going into fall season mans spooky book time and the eerie cover of The Woods Are Always Watching screams spine-chilling time. The cover is so ominous that it had me staring at it and looking for monster lurking behind the trees.

The story starts off with Neena and Josie, two high school besties who will be going their separate ways to college soon. So they decide to have one last hurrah and go camping. The only problem though, they know nothing about camping… what could possibly go wrong??

I will start by saying that I do not like camping and have never liked camping, and not because of the lack of restrooms but because of an episode of Unsolved Mysteries from the 90’s. That being said, Stephanie Perkins delivers the perfect definition of a read in one sitting nail biting book! It is a great mashup of thriller and survival story. I didn’t know where this book was going, but it took a deep dark turn and I went right with it. I’m a fan of alternating POVS and the writing style was quick paced so that I kept going. And the creep factor had me peering over my shoulder more than once while reading.
