Where will this plot path lead?

Over the past year, my family has become quite the hiking family. I’m seriously going to be on edge next time we’re in the woods, and I’m not sure what’s even going to happen next! I feel like Perkins has given us plenty of potential red herrings already, so I’m anxious to see what path the story takes next. The setting is especially intriguing, and I’m really feeling immersed in its atmosphere so far.
