Relatable characters in a foreboding setting

I am in love with how this book starts. First both girls sense of humor and the back and forth between the two of them reminded me instantly of my relationship with my best friends. I also enjoyed reading both girls thoughts on what they thought of what both their own and the others' futures hold (and how different they both say the others' futures). And then of course the slowly building sense of dread as they make their way up the trail, as it's getting dark and they're lost. I can't wait to see where this one goes!
