This first look immediately made me want to take it outside and read it by a campfire. Neena and Josie are about to face a forced separation, as one of them heads off to college and the other remains home. They decide to take one last trip together, just the two of them, camping. Now, neither girl has ever really been camping on their own, which already tells you how things are going to go.
So far the first few chapters were a nice blend of friendship and just slightly creepy - as the girls continue their hike, tensions mount. They run into mysterious strangers who jokingly warn them about continuing, a tree that seems intent on telling them to go back, and the destroyed carcass of a deer. This book seems like it holds a lot of promise, and I'm excited to see where it goes when the full copy is released!
