I have this author’s previous book A Nearly Normal Family, which I’ve seen nothing but stellar reviews for. I haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet, but I was excited to give The Woman Inside a try knowing how well the author’s previous book was received.

I originally thought this sounded promising due to the psychic advisor angle, but I did not end up liking this book. The psychic aspect of it was very minimal and shouldn’t have even been worth mentioning in the blurb.

The characters were all pretty awful. I had zero empathy for Bill. I’m not sure if I was supposed to feel sorry for him or if I was supposed to dislike him, but he was the worst of all the characters. Jennica just rubbed me the wrong way. The least annoying character was Karla, but even her naïveté started to drive me nuts. I wasn’t super invested in the mystery either, which meant I was pretty bored for most of the story. The ending was done well, I thought, but I’m honestly surprised I made it that far.
