Any book that starts with a police report has my attention. And this was a good one! Two people are dead. No waiting and wondering what the mystery is going to be about. Then the story goes back in time and we start meeting the characters. The snippet we get does little more than introduce what I assume are the main characters: the couple in the house, their housekeeper, a man renting a room, and another woman. I love the sparceness and directness of the writing style. To me, this makes for a quick and addicting read and I love that!
