The Wives is a memoir of an expected road in life taken for love. A woman who never saw herself with an Army husband becomes exactly that, but then he is deployed to Afghanistan and she finds herself in a new town, in a new state without her high paying job and alone. She finds friendship and purpose through this new journey, surrounded by other army wives thrown into the same situation, some new to it, some so familiar they forgot any other way of life.

The writing style is quick and keeps you reading. I liked finding out about the background of the main characters upbringing as well as her husbands, and how they grew up so different from what their callings ended up being later in life together. As you hear her story you can't help but feel bad at first, but as it goes on it seems like a blessing in disguise, she finds friends and a chosen family and more importantly herself.
