A Fine Memoir

I honestly wasn't sure what I would think when I picked up this book. For one, memoirs usually aren't the kind of book I normally gravitate towards. In addition to that, I myself am not a military wife, so I wasn't sure how well I would connect to our narrator. So I went into this book cautiously optimistic.

With all that said, I thought this was a fine read.

I enjoyed reading about the sacrifices so many military families go through, in the name of service and duty. That anxiety and stress must be difficult to handle at times.

Something I didn't love about this book, however, was the condescension that carried on throughout the book. I felt a bit uncomfortable reading about how the author treated the other wives of enlisted men--that's not to say everyone has to get along with everyone, but it made our narrator come across as better than them.

Overall though, I can appreciate the author sharing this story with us.
