I grew up in a military family. I understand and respect the lives of not only the soldiers, but their families as well. Unless this was your way of life as either a solider or a dependent, it would be difficult to understand, as it is a polar opposite of those that live as civilians. Ms. Simone Gorrindo does an amazing job of setting up the plot of her memoir, "The Wives", by providing detailed backgrounds of her and Andrew's lives before he became a soldier, and she became an army wife and their lives shortly thereafter. Even through neither grew up in a military family, due to beliefs and being in love, they follow this path together. Their first home on the outskirts of the military base in Georgia, certainly brought back memories of homes that we lived in over the years! I look forward to reading the remainder of this well-written memoir. How will Andrew fair during his first deployment? Will Simone take up writing, or will the majority of her time be spent getting to know and spending time with the other military wives?
