When I read the brief description, I expected to be reading about Simone adjustment to the South, a totally different place than New York. While I expect that will be coming, the selection provided dealt almost exclusively with Andrew's desire to join the Army and then his deployment to Afghanistan. The selection ends with his departure.
I immediately wonder if this book will have moments of lightness, even humor, and, if it will end in tragedy.
