I'm an Army Mom, not an Army wife as depicted in the book, but in the few pages I've read, I can see Gorrindo is portraying the military accurately.

My son is currently deployed in the Army JAG Corps in a special forces unit in Okinawa.

The description of Fort Benning, (where my son attended air assault school - 5 successful jumps, each at 15,000 feet) is accurate and similar to the bases I've visited so far (they're all ugly with boxy looking beige or brick buildings). The book cover is a pretty accurate depiction of base housing.

My daughter in law is experiencing military life first-hand, but I am not (I could really relate to the line where her mother-in-law joining a military support group but no one else had a child who was deploying) so I'd really like to read The Wives and possibly get a better handle on her experiences.
