I'll admit that memoirs and military stories aren't typically my cup of tea, but if there would be any book to change my mind about that, it might be this one! The dissonance created by a division of values is apparent as the complex emotions of the characters are on display; I think that Gorrindo did an excellent job of bringing those individuals to life on the page. Just in the first two chapters, the flashbacks into Simone and Andrew's past show a rich history. I love the descriptive language Gorrindo uses in her writing—it truly does transport you into the setting.

The cover design is compelling and easily recognizable. I'll certainly be looking out for this book once it is released!
