One of the worst books I have ever read. The thrills are cheap, the plot doesn’t make sense, and the entire book feels like it’s pandering to something, but I couldn’t tell you what that is—other than the salad fast casual restaurant Chop’t.

I have so many questions. Why is Chop’t mentioned every 20 pages? Does this woman eat anything OTHER than Chop’t? What is the author’s obsession with Chop’t?! Honestly, trying to solve this mystery was one of the most interesting things about this otherwise very flat book.

My book club read this together, and at our meeting, we all just raged about it over lasagne. Please just read a different thriller. I will never understand why this mediocre-at-best book has gotten so much attention when literally any other book exists. 1/5 do not recommend. It’s only real high point is that you can read it quickly and then it’s over.
