It's good, people. It's really, really good. When a book gets this much buzz, it's going to be difficult for it to live up to the expectations people have put on it. But The Wife Between Us is genuinely a really great story, and I'm hoping that it can weather the storm.

Let's talk about the main topic with this book- the twists. Sometimes, it's a spoiler to even mention that there are twists, but as that seems to be the primary descriptor going around about this book, it's necessary to at least touch on them. Without revealing any details, I will say that yes, there are some big turns in this book I did not see coming. There are others, though, that I think are intended to be shocking that are not quite as unexpected. This is going to probably be part of the struggle facing this book- when the buzz around a book practically writes "PLOT TWIST" in neon letters, readers are going to be looking for them.

The story is fast paced, and I tore through it in my absolute need to find out what happened and how the pieces of this story fit together. I've read all of Sarah Pekkanen's previous books, and while I've always found her to be a very talented writer, this book, written with Greer Hendricks, is a league above everything else she's written and just vastly different from all her other stories. While it's tempting to rush through it to find out what happened, there really isn't an extraneous detail- it's all a part of a carefully woven narrative.

In all, forget what you've heard about this book, and just pick it up expecting a really solid story. Let this one wash over and surprise you. I doubt you'll be disappointed.
