The style of the writing in 'The Wife Between Us' is straight forward and easygoing. I found it very easy to move from one chapter to the next although I would have liked to have Chapter headers that show when the focus shifts from Nellie to Vanessa. This could help me stay on task and manage my expectations.The story itself is pretty slow in the first four chapters, establishing a baseline for the characters. We get to have a better grasp of how the characters think and feel but not much action from any of the characters that breed any real desire to flip the pages. There's a tiny bit of mystery placed in the first chapter and then within Nellie's need to be so secretive. Vanessa hasn't explained why she was divorced but eludes to it being her fault. So I'm sure there will be more to learn about the two ladies in this story. I just wished I'd known more in four chapters and had some type of action.
