I’ll admit, I felt bad for Vanessa when she was describing her new life (sad living situation, boring job, broken marriage). But looking back now I wish I’d known she actually wasn’t a sad sack...that she did have a purpose, even though it was kind of a dumb purpose (I doubt I would’ve tried THAT hard to warn such an ungrateful woman about her asshole fiancé tbh). I’m confused however, knowing what I know now, where all her sadness and depression really stems from (genetics from her mother I assume)? I also feel like I was waiting for SO LONG to know about her mysterious past/what happened in college, and the revelation was just really bizarre, far-fetched and not very relevant to the story.
