Unfortunately, this one was kind of … meh for me.

The plot and structure:

The plot twists were all either predictable or over-the-top ridiculous in an attempt to create a twisty, unpredictable store with gasp level shock factors. The flashbacks in the story got really annoying after a while. The story jumped around without clear transitions in a sometimes confusing manner. And somehow by the end of the book everything just seemed kind of pointless.

The characters:

I didn’t really connect with any of them and I don’t really they all made sense or were believable. For example, *minor spoilers* what kind of character decides a is such a dangerously and insidiously manipulate abuser (that seems really nice and great at first) that they need to dedicate significant time and energy to protecting other women from him, but continues to “miss” him and how “great” he used to be before she figured out how terrible he was? That makes no sense and doesn’t seem realistic even for a fairly irrational person. *end minor spoilers*

All in all, if your priority is being surprised repeatedly and you don’t happen to predict the twists, you might like this book. Otherwise, I’d give it a pass.
