"The Wife Between Us" was a fantastic psychological thriller that keeps you guessing at every turn. In the first part, we follow Vanessa and Nellie in alternating chapters (Vanessa in first person and Nellie in third person limited). Vanessa is the ex-wife, living with her aunt in New York City after her marriage with Richard has ended and left her impoverished. She is becoming obsessed with the woman Richard had an affair with and is going to marry. Nellie is just beginning her relationship with Richard. However, nothing is quite what it seems. I won't say anything about the later parts as I don't want to give any spoilers.
This book is masterfully written and absolutely captivating from start to finish. Be prepared to stay up at night thinking just one more chapter until this book is done! It begs to be read in just one sitting. I can definitely see why it was picked up for a movie, and I think this will certainly be a hit! I guessed some of the earlier twists pretty easily, but the ending twists were quite a surprise, and I loved that it kept coming.
There were quite a few layers of relationships throughout the story, and it was absolutely beautifully captured in bits and pieces that flowed so well and revealed just enough to keep you guessing along the way. All of the book was necessary for the story, and although written by two authors, they were so talented that it seemed like it had one (the story flowed beautifully).
