I don't typically enjoy the love triangle trope, but the writing in this story is completely engaging and addicting. I found myself enthralled with both characters and desperately wanting to know more about Richard. While the description makes it clear not to make any assumptions, it's hard not to develop opinions about both of the characters. However, the writing allows you to be compelled by both characters despite any assumptions/opinions and I found myself wanting both of them to be happy. The mystery of Richard is also compelling in that you find out a lot about him and nothing at the same time, leaving you wanting more.
