I received a copy of this book pre-publication from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This book should probably garner some attention when it comes out. It is well-plotted and it would be interesting to know how the two authors collaborated on the "he-said-she-said" parts of the story. I will say that at the end of Part One, I was literally saying, "WTF??!" I had to completely readjust my brain after that particular turn.

This is a slow-burning, twisty-turning story of the madness that is marriage. For me, it was a little too long. Parts of it were stretched a little too thin across reality, but. . .parts of it were also personally painful. Some of those things, I've been there. I was that person once, weak in the face of a man's manipulative anger. This book reinforces the notion that all a woman needs is a good dog and a library card. I'll be honest: men and interpersonal relationships scare me to pieces. I was married a lot longer than the characters in this book, and one thing I know is, it's not always fiction and trust sadly isn't always founded on truth. It looks a lot better on the outside than from within. And it gets really scary when one person stops caring what it looks like on the outside, too.

So I was honored to be chosen to read this one, and excited to win the raffle and get my package - so fun. This was well-written and conceptualized, it just got a little crazy-making in the long run. It's good to walk away, be grateful for the small pleasures of life, and think, "That's not me. Anymore, ever again."

Dog and a library card, sanity intact.
