I have the sense that this one will get a lot of buzz when it is released. I was a little hesitant going into a thriller written in a joint collaboration - not to have preconceived notions, but two people? Really? Will there be any voice at all?
The answer is, yes. It is so, so good. Not only are the characters rich, but the thing that makes this book so incredibly different is the constant guessing at "the twist"- even the twists are twisted! If you read a lot of thrillers and get bored with the story-you-know-so-well-you-can-always-guess-the-twist, then this is the book for you. I was so astonished after reading it that I wanted to go back and immediately re-read it from the beginning with my newfound knowledge (and I did go back and revisit huge chunks, seeing them in a different light).
These ladies are not only masters of structure, but I can really appreciate how developed the characters are - especially once I reached the end and understood everyone so much better. This would make a really great book club pick.
