I received this book free from Netgalley. I read it in less than 24 hours.
Wow! I will be thinking about it for some time. So many things that you assume and "think" you know as your read turn out to be wrong. I found it to be very addictive and thought provoking. The main character was hard to like at first, but she definitely grew on me as the story went on, and in the end I was rooting for her to succeed.
SPOILER!!!
When the book first starts out, you don't realize that the young woman and the older ex are the same person, and not rivals. You don't know this for sure until about mid-way through the book. Then, you don't realize that the therapist is the ex-husband's ex! Until I knew that I definitely felt that the therapist was acting outside of her scope of practice, but then I understood when I realized that she knew first hand the emotional and physical abuse that the wife was likely on the receiving end of.
The husband seems like a great guy when she is young and it made me think that the wife was an alcoholic, nasty lady, but then the veneer starts to wear off of his shine and the whole story starts to unfold in front of the reader's eyes.
I absolutely loved this book. I am looking forward to reading more!!
