This is quite the psychological suspense, thriller, and mystery novel all set in one. Set in modern-day times, between New York City and Florida, the perspectives are set between 2 different women. Keep reading, however, and the many twists and turns that begin early on in the novel, will have you questioning things. Page after page, the suspense builds and leads to an explosive conclusion. And just when you consider that all is said and done (although not quite well), there's one last plot twist for the very end that really finishes it off and sets the tone for the novel.

The writing is excellent as well, and the writing flows very smoothly from beginning to end. The underlying themes are those of guilt, forgiveness, and moving forward/progress. There's also abuse and partner/domestic violence, so if a reader is sensitive to these topics and issues then it is perhaps a novel to skip. One caveat I did have with the novel was that it felt that it was easy to write off abuse and forgive abuse, with an excuse. To each, your own. However, I do not find it that easy to excuse abuse. I wasn't clear if that was intended to be what the authors intended, but it could easily be the interpretation. Abuse from any person is abuse - and not as easily excusable as - "a rough childhood" or "it was learned behavior." I didn't find it necessary enough to drop my rating, or "lose a star." But, it was just a personal issue of mine, maybe a little nitpicky :-)
