This is presented to the reader in 3 parts. The first part gives the impression you are meeting a shunned wife jealous of her replacement, the new bride-to-be. In the 2nd part, you discover that wasn’t exactly the case. My favorite part was the 3rd part, when some things finally start happening. Still, it isn’t suspenseful enough but one is curious as to what is going on with these characters.

I was expecting more quite honestly, after all the 5 and 4-star ratings from pre-release ARCs and accolades. I love thrillers that grip you right in the beginning. This did not do that. It was not hard for me to put it down when I had to for the first 2/3-rds of the way in. In fact I wouldn’t call it a thriller at all. It was more of a study of a marriage, where one controlling partner dominates the other, more of a domestic fiction that has been done in various ways and styles through the years. This had a bit more originality to it, I’ll commend that. It had some moments of suspense towards the end, but not enough for this reader to give it an awesome review.

I do admit to thumbing my way through the e-pages quite quickly in the last part as I wanted to understand the meaning of the plot. Thank you to Net Galley, for a preview copy of this to be released in January of 2018.
