The Whisper Man by Alex North is a crime novel about a decades-old serial killer, named The Whisper Man. The story is told from the point of view of the widowed father and his young son, a detective that worked on the original case, a newer detective, and the killer .

Synopsis: Widower, Tom Kennedy believes a fresh start will help him and his young son Jake and they move to a new town and new house. However, 20 years ago, a serial killer abducted and murdered five residents, and he was nicknamed "The Whisper Man," for he would lure his victims out by whispering at their windows at night. A young boy soon vanishes and his disappearance bears a resemblance to Frank Carter's crimes, implying there may have been an accomplice to the original set of murders. Then Jake begins acting strangely and hears a whispering at his window .

Review: The Whisper Man is a very creepy tale and has chilling scenes. The characters are complex in their father and son relationships. For me, there was never a moment I gasped or was truly at the edge of my seat but I had a few theories throughout and I was very curious to see how they would pan out. Some of the twists that unfolded you could see coming, but were still quite fun to unpack. I won't be able to get this creepy nursery rhyme out of my head - "If you leave a door half open, soon you'll hear the whispers spoken" as told by young children. This will release August 20, and I'm sure we will be seeing this book everywhere then.
