This book was a masterly written suspense ride with an eerie and creepy atmosphere, but it was also so much more. What seems like just a tale about a serial killer who preys on little boys turns into a story about the relationship between father and son and how complicated that relationship can be.
Ultimately the story dives into what can happen to a child who has faced hardships and ultimately how each individual can go done the path of good or evil.
I loved all the characters in the book, especially Jake because he seemed like a quirky and highly smart kid that ultimately was just like his dad. Pete was also a great character, his struggle felt real and relatable.
There is so much to love and nothing that I didn't about this book. The chilling atmosphere, the legend of the whisper man, police hunting a serial killer, mystery, he exploration of relationships... I simply was mesmerized and could not stop reading. This book is definitely one of my favorites this year!
