I received an advanced copy of this book from a reviewer friend a few months before it's release.

The Whisper Man
Alex North

After the sudden death of his wife, Tom Kennedy believes a fresh start will help him and his young son Jake heal. A new beginning, a new house, a new town. Featherbank.
Just as Tom and Jake settle into their new home, a young boy vanishes. His disappearance bears an unnerving resemblance to Frank Carter's crimes, reigniting old rumors that he preyed with an accomplice. Now, detectives Amanda Beck and Pete Willis must find the boy before it is too late, even if that means Pete has to revisit his great foe in prison: The Whisper Man.

And then Jake begins acting strangely. He hears a whispering at his window...

I was really looking forward to reading this book based on the description and the cover and it was okay, but it just kind of fell flat for me. I think it was overhyped for a new author that still needs to hone his craft. However I do believe that he will, I think he has a lot of potential and despite my ambivalence for this book I'm still looking forward to reading his new book The Shadows.
