This book had a very creepy premise and overall met my expectations. It was a crime novel and I was hoping based on the description, that it might be a little more spooky.
This book introduces us to Tom and Jake, a father and son who just moved to a new town hoping to recover from the death of their wife and mother. Tom is a writer who is trying hard to start writing again after his wife's death. The adjustment is not easy however, Jake gets into trouble during his first few days at school, a strange man tries to get into their garage, and a whispering voice is talking to Jake at night. Tom is holding things together the best he can, but some of the things Jake has said are bringing up things from an old case in that town concerning a child abductor, the Whisper Man.
With the Whisper Man behind bars, the police are looking for an accomplice or a copycat, either way the kids in this town, including Jake, might not be safe.
The writing was engaging and kept me reading for more. I liked the characters and the connections they had to one another. The closure of this book was well tied together and I was satisfied with the ending!
