I really love books that are a mix of genres. This one definitely is more of the police procedural but also has elements of horror and psychological thriller. A man and his young son move to a new town after the death of the man's wife. Twenty years earlier, a serial killer was caught after murdering five people of this town. Soon it appears that a copy cat killer may be on the hunt when a young boy goes missing. Detectives Beck and Willis must confront the imprisoned murder in order to solve the new crime.
I really wouldn't consider this a horror novel because it focuses more on solving the crime. But there is a creeping dread throughout the novel that really hooks you. Overall I enjoyed this book. My only complaint is that it ended a little abruptly.
