I don't normally love detective stories, I've always found them lacking in depth, but that's what is great about The Whisper Man. It's got the intrigue and mystery of a good detective story and there's a mini reveal at some point that I didn't see coming at all that added an emotional factor to the story as well. I enjoyed the way the story came to a close and while the ending was a mixed bag, I thought it was executed perfectly. Even though this wouldn't fall in the horror genre, there was a creepy element that set me on edge and made me turn the light on when I went to grab something from a different room in the house. I thought the pacing was excellent throughout as well. I was excited for this one and it definitely lived up to expectations.
