I enjoyed this book it was a good mystery, killer, who did it novel. I like that the entire police aspect of it is pretty accurate to how things happen in real life and not blown out of proportion. Characters are let down, caught off guard and disappointed with law enforcement.

Tom decides he and his son Jake need a fresh start after the unexpected death of his wife. He decides to purchase a home in a new city without knowing the true history behind what lurks in the shadows of Featherbanks. A strange man shows up shortly after moving in asking if he could come in take a look around, check out the shed and such. Of course this is very odd and Tom says he does not want some stranger poking around. The man leaves without further explanations.

Tom becomes aware of The Whisper Man. A serial killer that lured children out into the open by whispering at their windows. For over 20 years he is highly regarded in the criminal community and everyone knows about him. A classmate of Jake is abducted and the Whisper Man is at the forefront of rumors and superstitions. Attracting the attention of not only the local police and reporters but Tom.

Jake starts getting caught talking to himself. Getting angry at someone who Tom cannot see. Playing, drawing interacting with something that is not there. Tom tries his best to leave him be but when Jake makes a comment about not listening to the whispers it is concerning. How did Jake know about a man whispering to children? How does he know it is not safe to go out?

Suddenly in the midst of the manhunt for the kidnapper, Jake is taken. Tom is beside himself and eagerly begins an investigation of his own. What he finds is horrific and quite frankly disheartening to any parent. He begins to question if Jake's imaginary friends are actually real and do they know where he is?

Told from different points of view, including the kidnapper/killer, but easy to keep up with you are thrown into a wild fast paced man hunt mystery. the reader is not given the name of the one responsible for Jake's disappearance nor if he is the Whisper Man. Makes it all the more intriguing because his accounts as told from his point of view make you want to grab the characters by the shoulders and yell run he is coming.

If you want a easy, fast paced read this is a good choice. Straight forward, turns and twists with just enough crime in it.
