"If you leave a door half open, soon you'll hear the whispers spoken."

20 years ago, Frank Carter, coined The Whisper Man, had kidnapped and killed four children, and believed the same of a fifth child, still missing. He was imprisoned to serve life a life sentence for his crimes.
But now the Whisper Man is back, and another child has disappeared. But how? Is it a copy cat, or does Frank Carter have an accomplice on the outside?
Meanwhile, recently widowed Tom Kennedy and son Jake move into the "creepy house" in Featherbank in hopes of a fresh start. The sinister past of the house is unraveled thanks to the intel of Jake's imaginary friend. Then Jake begins hearing whispers at his window.

This book definitely had some creepy moments, but read more as a mystery than a thriller. The characters were well crafted, and the premise was intriguing, but I felt the build up was stagnant and ultimately left me underwhelmed. I hoped for more on Frank Carter/The Whisper Man and his history, how he came to be. I did like the multiple POVs, and that of the mysterious new predator.
