Alex North can do creepy. The Whisper Man does exactly what his name suggests-whispering at the window of children, enticing them to leave with him where he can provide them a better life.
There were several points where I questioned myself on why I kept reading in the middle of the night when the book was giving me goosebumps and making me jump at every creak.
I think some of the long parts describing how the father was feeling could have been cut and then it would have been a 5 star read. The ending is what was SO good about it though. I was expecting the main outcome, but the aftermath of the climax was what really sold me on the book. It was just such an evil and clever ending that lead to a theme you didn’t realize you were reading: “everything comes full circle”.
