"If you leave a door half open, soon you'll hear the whispers spoken."

I actively try to avoid scary and/or creepy things, whether they be books or movies. A little bit of suspense/creep that might come with a thriller I can handle, but much more than that and I'm a complete baby. So initially, I had thought I would pass on The Whisper Man by Alex North but after seeing so many people absolutely RAVE about it I figured it was time to put on my big girl pants and give it a try. I'm so so glad I did!

Not only was this book full of suspense and creep but it was a great story full of interesting characters and relationships. I really liked how much the story focused on the relationship between father and son outside of the overall mystery. And while there was an underlying level of eerie throughout the whole book, it wasn't there just for the sake of being scary, nor did it detract from the larger story. I did feel that it lost a little bit of steam at the end but otherwise a great read that I'm really glad I took a chance on.
