I saw this book hyped and positively reviewed all over so I seem to be alone in thinking this, but Alex North's The Whisper Man didn't do it for me at all.
It started off strong and I can see why this book was popular with its fans, but I never quite connected to the characters or to the story. If I'm completely honest, I felt bored after the first few chapters but I stuck with it because of the number of positive reviews I'd read before picking it up. Maybe all that hype set me up for disappointment.
One storyline I wanted more from was with the Norman Collins character. There is plenty of creepy, obsessive potential there that I wanted to dive deeper into. There was plenty of creepiness elsewhere at least; just not the page-turner I was expecting.
